In design we are working on our final working piece so for this moment i am doing research into what i should do for my individual work idea. I started off by looking at skating videos such as the one below.

This is Chris Haffey. He is one of my favourite aggressive inline skaters. This is because of the style he skates and looks good with the tricks he does, whilst making it look all smooth and easy. so i decided to try cute shapes out of the image to form other icons and so forth. which didn't end up going to well.

So i moved onto the idea of trying to make something out of some skates.

I still couldn't think of any ideas after cutting shapes and icons out of this skate so i was stumped for ideas. Until i stumbled onto the idea of trying to make a character for a game. So i started researching into game characters such as humans, zombies and mutations from games such as resident evil and silent hill franchises.

as i progressed further through my reasearch i started developing my ideas for my final project, i started creating a drawing of a person which is below. I shall be showing from early development then till where i am now.

this is where i started drawing the foundation of the face and adding colour to see if it fit well and it did.

this is the image after fully drawing and shading. With all the clothing added so from now all i had to do was start creating a background.

I wanted to do a horror/ creepy styled background so i started drawing a creepy hallway which is what is below.

later on i finally started filling the image in with colour and detailing it more, also adding my person which i drew inside of it. I detailed this by adding shades of colour and smog of gas and smoke to add the thrilling effect whilst adding the little girl in the background walking through the river of blood from the back of the room which is pitch black.

Research for Final Working Piece (Art)

I will be researching my favourite surreal artist known as Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte. He was born on 21 November 1898 in Lessines, Belgium.

I base my artwork off of his style of surrealism. Such as this artwork below I added a different item to make it look like that it has a different perspective from which way you look at it.
He uses this technique in numerous paintings of his and adapts it in his own way which makes it look more beautiful and unique in everyone.

In this painting the backdrop is actually night time but the actual bird isn't a colour; it is actually the same as a day sky, clouds included.

And in this painting is where most of my inspiration comes from. it is called the empire of light by Rene Magritte. As you can see in this painting he creates the illusion of separate contrasts. In the sky it is day time, bright and cheerful with clouds; where as on the street it is night time, the street light is on, the trees are darkened out, the house is black and lights inside the window are on to basically create the illusion that it is day and night during the same time.

This started giving me ideas about starting a surreal image, so i drew it out as a base plate to later draw up onto a computer in photo shop.

(upload pictures of base template here)

This is after i coloured in the spaces and built it up before photoshop.

i decided to make a little adaption later in photo shop but with the time allotted i couldn't change it much. But at the moment this is what it looks like.

it eventually got developed more it became this.

so i liked the idea better on computer, but i thought i would adapt to it and change it into a collage with different images making a successful image.

Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali is one of my biggest influences towards surrealism and abnormal realism. This is because of my liking for abstract and different art styles which Salvador covers all bases of this.

artists such as bruce lacey believe he will not "grow up" and will always stay young.
Spike milligan was a multi media artist
spike milligan was irish
and bruce lacey was totally insane.

Deviant Art
Deviant art is a website where you can post your own pictures online for other people to see and you can browse other peoples pictures for if you need inspiration on what type of picture you wish to draw. The target audience is on an average age of around 12+ both male and female.

People who are trying to become artists for different style and contemporary art usually occupy it.

The website layout design is a lime green background with a black font which is easy on the eyes, also the layout of the webpage makes it easier to see the shortcuts and hot bar on top of the page.

Overall there are many strengths and weaknesses. But the strengths are the fact that it’s a nice community, who are helpful and there is plenty of ideas from other people’s drawings to help you start ideas of your own drawings. But the weaknesses of the website it is really buggy and can keep crashing and not loading the pictures properly which is quite annoying but apart from that everything is good about the site.

 Amazon

Amazon is a online shopping website just like other websites like eBay and gum tree etc. Amazon uses search engines on the website taskbar which defines searches for what you want specifically or items you wish to search for similar to the one you searched for. It also has a section called “Items you may also like.” Where they take information on items you have bought previously to find items you may also like. Also a section where it says “other users that bought this item also like.” The target audience can be anything from younger people with parent’s permissions and card/PayPal details.  Or it could be even an adult searching for any item.

This is the Front page of the amazon website where you can see the search bar and some sub-searches such as the “what other customers are looking at right now.” There really isn’t any weaknesses of this website unless you do not know how to use the internet.

Charlie Chaplin

Is Charlie Chaplin considered a surreal artist? there is many opinions on the internet about if he is or not, but in this post there is plenty of information which can help you decide if you think he is or not.

The Surrealists Go To The Movies

It is impossible to disentangle the influence of Chaplin on French artists, writers, and poets

of his day from their general enthusiasm for American films immediately following the war.

Phillipe Soupault would claim in his seminal 1924 article “Cinéma U.S.A.” that these movies

had “deeply marked all of French poetry”

Never one to pass up a practical joke, Tzara nonchalantly inserted the names of The Prince of

Monaco, Georges Clemenceau, and Charlie Chaplin—among many others [Fig. 2]—into this

already illustrious roster.

Upon receiving the poster, Breton couldn’t contain the impossible hope of having Charlot,

the ultimate prankster, join their ranks. He wrote in a letter to Tzara: “This echo of Charlie

Chaplin is a delicious surprise. But of course, it’s not true?”6 But the hoax didn’t stop there.

After Tzara’s arrival in Paris in 1920, he gave word to the newspapers that Chaplin would be

among them for the Dada event at the Salon des Indépendants at the Grand Palais. Not

picking up on the prank, the newspaper Le Journal du Peuple relayed the news that Chaplin

would be publicly converted to Dadism.7 Chaplin never showed up, of course, but the Dadaists

carried on without even bothering to address the elephant in the room with the increasingly

hostile audience.

Working with interactive media products

The interactive media product I am working with is Internet webpage such as YouTube.

YouTube is a website which is video based with videos on everything you really need. These videos can be anything from video game walkthroughs to how to apply make-up. It is for people who do not fully understand how to use equipment, who seek entertainment from famous You Tubers  (people who have channels that people can subscribe to which notifies the people who have subscribed when the you tuber has uploaded a video.)

There isn’t a specific age range, gender orientation, demographic lifestyle of people that use YouTube. It can be anything from 10-year-old children to 80-year-old pensioners.

There isn’t much text on YouTube. The only text on it is to describe what the videos are with short bios, titles and bios of the you tubers channel. The layout is very good and basic. It has you’re recommended videos and categories down the left side of the screen. There is also a search bar on the top middle of the screen to directly search for what you want to watch or searches close to it.
As you can see by the image there is a search bar on top and recommended videos down the side and description of the video on the bottom of the video.

Overall strengths of YouTube is that it is quite basic and easy to use. Also the fact that there is many video walkthroughs and helpful videos to whatever you need help with.
The weaknesses of YouTube is mainly based in the comment section where you will most likely get harassed by all the people known as “trolls” of the Internet who will insult you for everything that you may do wrong.

Design Research

Their are very many different types of logos and ideas for designs to make for yourself, if you need to have a look at other logos to get you're ideas flowing then just type in logo's on Google, or even better think of companies and developing businesses such as Gucci, Jagex, Hollister, Bethesda  etc.

I quite like the concept of this logo. This is from a game known as "Diablo 3." the colours and style of the logo match up and suit the look of it. With it being so colour contrasted around the logo it brings a nice crisp edit towards the logo.

I like other ideas like clothing brands. I especially like Impericon. It is a basic logo with nothing to fancy, but its broad and stands out so it is easily recognisable.

I also like the style of illusion and tye dyed items. This specific t-shirt below is one i like because its using lines and just a normal glass of water in front of the lines so it makes the lines behind the glass bend around like its really there.

Tye Dye shirts like this one below is the style i like, the colours aren't to bright so they hurt your eyes, but yet still colourful with a cool pattern to show off and flow with you're own fashion
